DSWA South Wales held a successful taster course on the border of Wales & England in May. Participants from both countries attended the taster course led by two qualified instructors.
The site chosen for the taster course was Hatterall Hill. At its summit of 531m is the high point where a peaty plateau falls away steeply on all sides. Broad ridges run to the north, the southeast and southwest. With stunning views into Wales and Herefordshire participants were treated to excellent fair weather.

The first day started with some light induction and a full health & safety briefing including tool talk and principles of walling. Refreshments of teas, coffees and excellent cake made fresh by the host for the weekend.

It was an excellent weekend for the public who attended. It is always good to see people introduced to the craft with a couple showing further interest and joining the DSWA and South Wales Branch as members.
The review’s we receive speak for themselves and we hope you can join us on future courses throughout 2026.
