Young Farmers learn dry stone walling at Ystradfellte, Brecon Beacons

The branch held a course for a group of Young Farmers at the Ystradfellte church site in the Brecon Beacons. Students were shown how to rebuild sections of the church wall and on hand were Richard Downham and Brian Lock to provide instruction.

Members of the Young Farmers dismantled an existing church dry stone wall and from footings to copings restored and maintained this item of Wales’ cultural heritage.

Instructor Brian Lock said that “it is really important to see the craft being passed onto future generations and to see the Young Farmers here today is a welcome sight”.
